The service wasnt friendly and the food expensive, not much on menu. That was earlier on in 2018 I visited gunning. The town itself is nice to visit and walk around.
It does not get any better. Fantastic coffee, beautiful locally made cakes and slices, outrageously good Australian-style burgers and happy, upbeat staff who can't do enough to ensure customers are comfortable and happy. The decor reflects Gunning's historic connection to Australia's wool industry, and is a credit to the owners and the people of Gunning. Don't bother with Crookwell, where it is impossible to get a decent coffee and customer service is non-existent. Make the effort to visit Gunning and enjoy genuine Australian country hospitality at the Merino Cafe. Exceptional.

A great place to stop on the way back from Canberra. Gunning is a very old small country town with plenty of atmosphere. The Merino cafe makes good coffee and excellent scones with jam and cream..recommended
The Merino cafe is a great place to have the best Coffee in the District.The staff are always friendly and willing to help.The food is good. I especially like the Caesar salad and the scrambled eggs.I recommend the Merino Cafe to any traveler that needs a good break and good food.
